Lost Tribe Sound
Take all those slow moving, jazz-soaked, drum-shuffling, love-making moments, you know, the best bits from any Yo La Tengo record, cobble it together with some of Caretaker's rusted looping mechanics, some Casino v. Japan: Go Hawaii era style, maybe slap a little of Directorsound's stamp of approval on it, and we are getting near the heart of Julia Bloop. It's nothing but the meaty goodness that you want in every bite.
“It’s a sampledelic southward trip down the archipelago, all the way down to the secret lagoon beyond the volcanic peaks, the lagoon you can only access by sea. There the water laps against the shore, and it’s impossible not to get lost in the remote world there, till you can’t fathom the amount of time you spend transfixed.
It’s a long damn time.
It’s so long that, if you’re like me, your beard grows and your skin tans and your clothes become tattered strips by the weather, and still there you are, day after day, mesmerized in a haze of half understanding. Moments and memories blur, the sun sparkles on the water, the rain falls in sheets. The Earth turns, day to night, a crackling fire keeps you warm. And still this place, this Bloop, has a hold on you. The cerulean surface is a mirror to the sky, and you fall into it and transform, gliding like an albatross forever crossing the great expanses.”

“Sitting on the beach in Kekaha, Kauai, the sun has a few more hours before it rises away from view. Sleep has settled like a fog, all is quiet, only the crash of waves can be heard. In the distant horizon, a silhouetted land mass holds firm focus. This is the island of Niʻihau. Protected, forbidden, a place only natives can travel to and from. There are satellite views, also select trips to the northern uninhabited part of the island, beyond this, there is extremely limited knowledge of the small village residing there. Tonight is special, the ocean is relatively quiet and the wind pushes from there to here, throwing a sonic pass exactly on target. Traveling the seventeen miles without corruption, beautiful melodies are heard with welcome. They are clear and magical. Instilling images of old growth palm trees gently touched by a western breeze, their green luster sparkling from the moonlight’s reflection. Sandy paths leading down to the beach where long lines of waves produce crystalline reflections, disappearing until their swell mates follow. The undisturbed life has time to make patient and simply natural music. Tropical, remote, relaxing, and uniquely distinct, a wish to see the source is wisely balanced with the the understanding of the fortuitous conditions to hear sounds ‘Out of the Bloop.’” - Lost in a Sea of Sound
"These songs were born out of lying in bed on rainy days, summer walks at dusk, and watching the sunset at Zuma. I recommend pairing them with similar activities." - JB

Just imagine if these outtakes made it into EATEOT, the project would've been over seven hours! I love how "I Might Be Vanishing" is a stark contrast from other tracks, being only nine seconds. AG319 Alt Acc

I've been trying to write a review for some time now. The thing is I start drifting off after the first couple of songs, and then I don't even remember what I was doing. If you're into positive, happy vibes and are not afraid of self-oblivion this album is probably for you. Well-crafted with a high level of detail. Ärofyllt ljus
